Involvement

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE)

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

President

As the current president of SHPE, my duties include representing the chapter, overseeing all chapter-related business, managing upcoming events, fostering a welcoming environment, and resolving internal and external conflicts within SHPE and among its members. My goal is to strengthen the bonds within SHPE, promoting the value of "Familia" and creating a supportive community for our members away from home.

When I first arrived at Michigan Tech, SHPE became my home. The chapter offered a fun, tight-knit environment that helped me feel supported. I want to continue this tradition by ensuring that future members also experience a sense of belonging, providing a fun escape from academic stress while creating a comfortable space for everyone. To me, SHPE was more than just a club; it was a friend group, and I aim to make it the same for others.

SHPE Conventions

Anaheim CA / Salt Lake City UT

During my time at MTU, SHPE has opened up so many countless opportunities for me. One of them was the ability to travel to SHPE's National conventions. This opportunity allowed me to Network with many Indy 500 Brands and get my foot through the door for internships. These trips allowed me to talk to my top companies 1 on 1 before graduating MTU. Over the last few years we have attended Anaheim CA and Salt Lake City UT.

SHPE Socials

SHPE hosts countless socials during the school year to help promote a tight-knit feel for the org. These events include Chocolate and Chisme, Yooperlite Hunting, Laser Tag, Potlucks, Game Nights, Watch Parties, and Dances. These events are decided during our meetings based on what our members want.

Outreach & Volunteer work

The SHPE Chapter at MTU is engaged with the community. Over my time at MTU, I have been able to help a family move out of their house, rake a local cemetery, outreach to beginner Spanish speakers, and inspire STEM in elementary students
